Aged Care Social Visitor - Politics Enthusiast in Lisarow

Sue* (name changed for privacy) is in her 80s and a lifelong Labor supporter. With an interest in the union movement and a trailblazer in her working life, Sue has plenty of stories to share about a life well-lived. She'd appreciate a regular visitor to talk politics and current affairs, to keep herself mentally sharp, stimulated and connected to the world.
Living in an aged care home in Lisarow, Sue has limited opportunities for this type of intellectual stimulation with fellow residents, so regular visits from a like-minded person would help ease her feelings of isolation and loneliness, and give her a meaningful opportunity to engage and add some spark back to her days.
Visits are purely for social reasons (no running errands, transporting to medical appointments, or personal care duties) and occur on a regular ongoing basis (eg an hour a week or fortnight). Time can be spent doing activities you both enjoy - conversation about topical issues, sharing stories of your lives, going for a walk in the garden, enjoying a hobby together etc.
It's all about connection, companionship and community.
Volunteer Visitors require patience and reliability...and above all, a heart for older people. You will be supported in your role by a Volunteer Coordinator.
Volunteers undergo a police check (at no charge to you) and complete a short online training program before commencing their volunteering role.
Please register your interest today and a Coordinator will be in touch with more information about the next steps.
