Aged Care Social Visitor - Games and Chats - Wyoming

Volunteering Central Coast

Jan* (name changed for privacy) is on the younger side to be in aged care and is finding it tough to connect with other residents around her, especially as many have cognitive decline and dementia. Jan's got a cheeky spark to her personality and eager to stay connected to the community, despite circumstances making it difficult to get out there amongst it all.

Are you the new friend that could make a meaningful difference to Jan's quality of life? A weekly visit for around an hour could include sharing stories, having a joke and a laugh, sitting in the sunshine in the garden, and playing board games together (favourites are Connect 4, Monopoly, Triominoes...but Jan's keen to try other games if you have another personal favourite to share).

Visits are purely for social reasons (no running errands, transporting to medical appointments, or personal care duties) and occur on a regular ongoing basis (we love weekly visits, but fortnightly is okay too).

It's all about connection, companionship and community.

Volunteer Visitors require patience and reliability...and above all, a heart for older people. You will be supported in your role by a Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteers undergo a police check (at no charge to you) and complete a short online training program before commencing their volunteering role.

Please register your interest today and a Coordinator will be in touch with more information about the next steps.
