Logo for ADRA Australia

In this Volunteer Manager role, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the ADRA Townsville Community Pantry, supporting individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. At ADRA, our community pantries are more than just food hubs. They are safe, welcoming spaces that foster dignity, connection, and hope. You will be at the heart of this frontline service, helping ensure equitable access to food while building a strong and compassionate volunteer team. You will make a difference by:

Leading the daily and weekly pantry operations, including food distribution, stock management, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming space. Coordinating and supporting the volunteer team, fostering a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven environment. Ensuring a respectful and dignified experience for all clients accessing pantry services. Building relationships with local partners, suppliers, and community groups to support pantry operations and outreach. Assisting with the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new volunteers. Supporting record keeping, basic reporting, and food safety compliance requirements.

Play a key role in addressing food insecurity within the Townsville community. Build meaningful connections with volunteers, clients, and local organisations. Contribute to a service that promotes dignity, inclusion, and community wellbeing. Help create a safe space where individuals and families feel supported and valued. Be part of ADRA’s broader mission to bring hope and practical support to people in need across Australia and beyond.

We are looking for someone who shares ADRA Australia’s core values of Justice, Compassion, and Love, and is passionate about creating positive social impact, along with the following:

Strong people skills, with experience leading or supporting teams (volunteer leadership highly regarded). Organised and reliable, with the ability to manage day-to-day operations effectively. Compassionate and approachable, with experience in customer or community service environments. Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build and maintain positive relationships. Ability to manage competing priorities and work with limited resources. Willingness to assist with light manual tasks (for example lifting food boxes and setting up pantry space). Passion for community service, food security, and making a meaningful difference.
