Re-Use Shop Volunteer - Henderson Waste Recovery Park
Passionate about sustainability and giving quality items a second life? Join our Re-Use Shop volunteer team and help reduce waste, support the circular economy, and make a positive impact in the community.
We are looking for well-organised and friendly volunteers to support the operation of our Re-Use Shop. Our shop helps divert reusable items from landfill by giving pre-loved goods a second chance.
Both front and back of house volunteering opportunities available, tasks may include:
- Assist in receiving, sorting and assessing donated or recovered items to determine suitability for resale
- Safely handle, clean, test (where required), price and display second-hand goods in accordance with shop standards
- Support the day-to-day operation of the landfill re-use shop, ensuring it is clean, organised, and welcoming to customers, including shop floor, storage areas, and loading zones
- Answer customer enquiries regarding products, pricing and shop policies.
- Handle customer purchases by receiving cash and/or using an eftpos machine, giving change and documenting transactions

About the Henderson Waste Recovery Park Re-Use Shop
The Re-Use Shop gives everyday household items a second chance by rescuing them from landfill. Items delivered to the Park for waste and recycling are carefully sorted, with suitable items set aside for resale in the shop. The Shop is open to the Public Friday 8am-4pm and 8am-1pm Saturdays. All income generated through the Henderson Waste Recovery Park supports community projects across the City, including major facilities such as the Cockburn ARC.
