Australian Navy Cadets

Training Ship TOOWOOMBA is a community-based youth development organisation operating as part of the Australian Navy Cadets program.

We are seeking community-minded adults to volunteer as Defence Approved Helpers (DAH), supporting young people aged 13–17 through a structured program that is focused on leadership, teamwork, resilience, confidence, and community service.

Key duties include:

  • Supporting trained Navy Cadet Staff during weekly parade nights
  • Assisting with support, leadership, and team-based activities
  • Supervising and mentoring cadets under direction
  • Supporting community and commemorative events
  • Assisting with general activity preparation and pack-up

Skills and experience:

  • An interest in youth development and mentoring
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliability and a positive attitude
  • No military experience required

Screening and onboarding: All volunteers must complete required checks including a National Police Check, Working With Children Check, and youth protection training. Support will be provided throughout the process.
