Training Ship TOOWOOMBA is a community-based youth development organisation operating as part of the Australian Navy Cadets program.
We are seeking community-minded adults to volunteer as Defence Approved Helpers (DAH), supporting young people aged 13–17 through a structured program that is focused on leadership, teamwork, resilience, confidence, and community service.
Key duties include:
- Supporting trained Navy Cadet Staff during weekly parade nights
- Assisting with support, leadership, and team-based activities
- Supervising and mentoring cadets under direction
- Supporting community and commemorative events
- Assisting with general activity preparation and pack-up
Skills and experience:
- An interest in youth development and mentoring
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability and a positive attitude
- No military experience required

Screening and onboarding: All volunteers must complete required checks including a National Police Check, Working With Children Check, and youth protection training. Support will be provided throughout the process.
