This volunteer opportunity will help to facilitate meaningful engagement between local families and local service providers during the annual Family Fun Day in celebration of Child Protection Week. By contributing your time as a volunteer, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and seamless experience for families accessing vital community support networks.
The Family Fun Day is a key community initiative hosted by UnitingCare to commemorate Child Protection Week and facilitate meaningful engagement between families and local service providers. This event brings together numerous local organisations at Ewing Park during the school holidays to connect the local community with vital support networks, resources, and free family activities.

📍Location: Family Fun Day - Ewing Road, Netball Drive, Woodridge, QLD 4114
Date: Tuesday, September 22, 2026
Event Time: 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM (2-hour shifts)
✅ What you’ll be doing:
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and community-minded volunteers for two event day roles, with the flexibility to rotate between both positions in 2-hour shift blocks:
1. Car Park Attendant
Assist stall holders, vendors, and community members in safely navigating the enclosed car park.
Guide drivers in the car park to designated complimentary parking spaces and ensure vehicles maintain a safe, low speed.
Monitor perimeters to maintain clear, hazard-free pedestrian pathways for arriving families.
2. Train Ride Assistant
Support the coordination of the popular mini train ride attraction alongside the track operators.
Assist community members with queuing, boarding, and disembarking safely.
Collect tickets, tokens, or donations, and monitor the track perimeter to ensure children remain at a safe distance while the train is in motion.

☑️ Requirements of this role include:

A current and valid Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card) is mandatory before commencing volunteer duties.

Ability to follow strict safety directions, operational procedures, and crowd management protocols under the guidance of staff.

Strong interpersonal skills to communicate safety instructions or parking directions clearly and politely to a diverse public audience.

Ability to work effectively within a team environment and collaborate closely with other volunteers and staff.
