Greeter - Esperance Visitor Centre
Advertised by Esperance Volunteer Resource CentreDo you enjoy helping people and are you passionate about Esperance?
The Esperance Visitor Centre is seeking a friendly volunteer Greeter to welcome visitors, have a chat, and answer basic general questions. As one of the first people customers meet when they walk through the door, you'll play an important role in creating a positive and memorable first impression of the Centre and our community.
During peak period (December to April), when the Centre is busy and customers sometimes have to wait a little to be served, the greeter will welcome people, have a chat with them, and answer basic, general questions such as "where is there a supermarket" or "where can I get a coffee nearby" or "what time is the museum open today".
For anything else (any bookings/sales/itineraries/camping queries, etc) the greeter will hand over the customer to one of the permanent/casual staff when available. The Centre can get crowded inside so when the weather is nice the greeter will be out on the veranda near the door (there is a table and chair located there if they don't want to stand all the time).
The Centre is small and only needs one volunteer on at a time, but it is open 7 days (except Christmas Day and Good Friday) so there can be a different person on different days. There are always at least 2 staff on so the greeter will never be on their own. Mornings are busier so if a volunteer only wants half a day, ideally it would be in the morning, but flexible.
Specific availability is not required, just whenever a volunteer is free and wanting to come in during hours.
Opening days and times:
- From the weekend before Christmas to end of January: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 4pm, Sunday and public holidays 9am to 2pm
- From Feb to end of May: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm, Sunday and public holidays 9am to 12pm.
The greeter is the first impression to visitors and locals when they go to the Visitor Centre, so they need to be polite, friendly, well-presented and focused on the customer to give them an excellent experience, be (or become) familiar with Esperance’s attractions and businesses and pay attention to detail (in order to give customers the correct and up to date information).
If you'd like to be the friendly face that helps visitors feel at home, we'd love to hear from you!
