Treasurer – Committee Member

#Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Maintain oversight of the organisation’s financial position
- Monitor income and expenditure against approved budgets
- Ensure financial records are accurate, up to date, and securely maintained
- Work alongside the Finance and Membership services Manager to reconcile accounts
Reporting
- Present regular financial reports to the Committee (monthly)
- Prepare annual financial statements for review and/or audit
- Provide clear explanations of financial position and variances \
Budgeting & Planning
- Assist in preparing the annual budget in collaboration with the Committee
- Monitor cash flow and highlight any financial risks or concerns
- Support financial planning for projects, grants, and operational needs
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial legislation and reporting requirements
- Support audit processes if required
- Maintain good governance practices in relation to financial decision-making
Systems & Processes
- Oversee use of accounting software (e.g., MYOB/Xero or similar)
- Ensure invoicing, payments, and records are processed correctly and on time
- Recommend improvements to financial systems and procedures where needed
Committee Participation
- Attend committee meetings and contribute to decision-making
- Provide financial insight to support strategic planning and operations
- Work collaboratively with other committee members and staff/volunteers
Skills & Experience
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, finance, or similar financial administration
- Understanding of budgeting and financial reporting
- Ability to interpret financial data and communicate it clearly
- Familiarity with accounting software (desirable but not essential)
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Understanding of, or interest in, not-for-profit governance (desirable)

Time Commitment
- Approximately a few hours per week depending on reporting cycles and organisational needs
- Attendance at committee meetings (2x per school term)
- Additional time may be required during end-of-financial-year reporting or budgeting periods
