The CareWorks Torrensville Emergency Relief Program cares for the welfare of others by assisting disadvantaged individuals and families with food, clothing and other material needs and referring to other agencies when needed.

The Emergency Relief Assessor is a most rewarding position. Helping those who are disadvantaged in the community by listening to their situation with compassion and relieving some of their burdens with material goods and referring to services that may bring direction to their lives.

Training is provided with continued support in your role.

Emergency Relief Assessors are required to be non judgemental, have sound communication skills and an understanding of the need for confidentiality.

A current police check is required. (CareWorks will help submit if needed at no charge to the volunteer). Referees would be appreciated.

9:15am to 12:30pm Wednesday mornings. The program operates Tuesday and Friday mornings Filling in on these days would be helpful if available.

Please note: * As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Voluntary Workers Personal Accident Insurance). * Best practice volunteer involvement recommends that a volunteer role should not be more than 15-16 hours per week.
