Position Overview

The Volunteer Marketing Manager will lead the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of marketing and promotional activities associated with the Team Rainbow Art Show and 10th Anniversary Charity Dinner.

Working closely with Team Rainbow's Event Manager, Committee, sponsors, artists, media partners, and volunteers, the Marketing Manager will assist in building awareness, increasing attendance, promoting ticket sales, engaging stakeholders, and enhancing Team Rainbow's community profile.

This role provides valuable practical experience in event marketing, communications, stakeholder engagement, social media management, public relations, and community-based event promotion.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy and Planning

• Assist in developing and implementing the event marketing plan. • Identify target audiences and promotional opportunities. • Develop marketing timelines and promotional schedules. • Coordinate marketing activities across multiple communication platforms. • Monitor campaign performance and recommend improvements.

Social Media and Digital Marketing

• Assist with managing Team Rainbow's social media platforms. • Develop engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, LinkedIn, and other channels. • Prepare event announcements, reminders, and promotional campaigns. • Coordinate social media content calendars. • Monitor engagement and respond appropriately to enquiries where required.

Content Development

• Create promotional content including articles, event descriptions, media releases, newsletters, and website updates. • Assist with drafting sponsorship acknowledgements and partner communications. • Prepare artist profiles, event highlights, and participant stories. • Support the development of post-event communications and reports.

Media and Public Relations

• Assist in developing relationships with community media outlets. • Coordinate media opportunities and event publicity. • Prepare media releases and promotional materials. • Support interviews, photography, and media engagement activities. • Assist in promoting positive community awareness of Team Rainbow and its charitable objectives.

Graphic Design and Promotional Materials

• Coordinate the production of flyers, posters, digital graphics, and event signage. • Ensure promotional materials align with Team Rainbow branding. • Assist with the preparation of event programmes and printed materials. • Liaise with designers, printers, and suppliers where required.

Event Support

• Assist during the Art Show Gala Opening. • Assist during the Charity Dinner and Art Show weekend. • Support attendee engagement and event promotion activities. • Assist with photography, social media updates, and stakeholder liaison during the event.

Volunteers will have opportunities to build professional networks within Brisbane's arts, community, sporting, and rainbow+ sectors.

Required Skills and Attributes

Essential

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent organisational and time management skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Creativity and enthusiasm for community engagement. • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities. • Professional and inclusive approach to working with diverse communities. • Competency using Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.

Desirable

• Experience in marketing, communications, public relations, media, or event promotion. • Social media management experience. • Graphic design experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms. • Photography, videography, or content creation skills. • Experience working within community organisations, charities, arts organisations, or sporting organisations. • Knowledge of rainbow+ communities and inclusive practices.

Working Arrangements

Hours

• Approximately 100 volunteer hours across the project period. • Flexible scheduling to accommodate work, study, and personal commitments. • Combination of remote work and on-site activities.

Expected Availability

The successful applicant should be available for key event dates:

• Friday 24 July 2026 – Art Show Gala Opening • Saturday 25 July 2026 – Art Show Exhibition and 10th Anniversary Charity Dinner • Sunday 26 July 2026 – Art Show Exhibition and Pack-Down

Support and Supervision

The Volunteer Marketing Manager will receive:

• Regular support and guidance from Team Rainbow committee members. • Opportunities to collaborate with artists, sponsors, media representatives, volunteers, and community stakeholders. • Structured feedback throughout the project. • Recognition of volunteer service and contribution.
