Team Rainbow Inc is a Brisbane-based, volunteer-led not-for-profit and Australian registered charity that champions inclusion, visibility, and participation for rainbow+ people through sport, arts, and community engagement. Best known for supporting athletes to compete in international events such as the Gay Games, Team Rainbow also delivers inclusive local initiatives—including art exhibitions, charity events, sporting activities, and community gatherings—that celebrate diversity, foster connection, and promote health and wellbeing across Queensland.
Team Rainbow is currently seeking a volunteer to support the organisation’s digital growth, operational capability, and member engagement. This volunteer role provides practical, real-world experience within a purpose-driven organisation, allowing volunteers to build a strong professional portfolio while contributing to meaningful social impact outcomes.
Membership Software Manager
Focus Area: Membership Systems, Data Management & Digital Operations
The Membership Software Manager volunteer will play a key role in improving and managing Team Rainbow’s existing membership platform and associated digital systems. This role is ideal for a student, retiree or emerging professionals interested in CRM systems, membership management, digital operations, business analysis, and process improvement.
What will be Required of the Volunteer -- Technical Skills & Knowledge
The successful volunteer should demonstrate experience, knowledge, or a willingness to develop capability in:
• Membership management systems or CRM platforms • Database management and data integrity principles • Spreadsheet and reporting tools (eg Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets) • Digital workflow optimisation and process mapping • User account administration and permissions management • Email communication systems and marketing integrations • Payment gateway and event registration integrations • Basic understanding of APIs and software integrations • Cloud-based collaboration platforms and digital administration systems
Experience with platforms such as Join It, TidyHQ, Salesforce, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Stripe, or similar systems would be advantageous but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
The intern will be expected to:
• Review Team Rainbow’s current membership management processes and identify inefficiencies • Audit and improve membership data accuracy and consistency • Develop improved workflows for member onboarding, renewals, communications, and reporting • Create segmented member categories and reporting structures • Assist with integration between membership systems, event systems, communications platforms, and payment systems • Improve digital record keeping and administrative procedures • Develop user guides, training documentation, and process manuals for future volunteers and committee members • Recommend scalable improvements to support future organisational growth • Participate in meetings with Team Rainbow stakeholders and provide progress updates • Ensure systems remain user-friendly, secure, and sustainable for volunteer use
