About Yalari

Yalari is a not-for-profit organisation providing access to quality, education scholarships for Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities across Australia. Our head office is based in Helensvale on the Gold Coast, where we support students and their families, , alumni, partner schools and the wider community. Volunteers play an important role at Yalari by giving their time and skills to support the work that opens pathways for Indigenous students to grow into young leaders.

Role overview

We are seeking a committed, Events Administration Volunteer to support our small Events and Fundraising team in Helensvale. This is a consistent, in-office role for 1–2 days per week (school hours welcome), with opportunities to volunteer at events such as our Brisbane fundraising dinners and 50/50 charity raffles.

Key responsibilities

Working closely with the Events and Philanthropy team, you may assist with: • Prize sourcing and maintaining prize/pledge records • Taking meeting minutes and preparing event summaries • Reviewing bounce backs after email/mail-outs and updating records • Updating and proofing event runsheets • Managing supporter data in Microsoft Dynamics • Drafting and proofing GalaBid silent auction item descriptions and other content • Assisting with risk assessments and the lessons learnt register after events • Preparing name tags, place cards and guest list materials • Drafting or formatting basic eDMs and event communications Tasks can be tailored to your skills and experience, and training/support will be provided.

Skills and experience

We are looking for someone who: • Is organised, reliable and comfortable working with detail • Has basic to intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office; CRM experience a bonus) • Has strong written communication and attention to detail (for minutes, summaries, eDM drafts and proofing) • Enjoys working as part of a small, friendly team in an office environment • Has an interest in events, fundraising and/or Indigenous education and community outcomes
