Help local leaders experience everyday life without a car

Get Around Caboolture is looking for a volunteer Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator to help recruit participants and build partnerships for Week Without Driving (1–8 October).

Week Without Driving invites community leaders, decision-makers and organisations to experience what everyday life can be like when driving isn't an option. Through activities such as public transport journeys, mobility scooter experiences and conversations with local residents, participants gain first-hand insight into the opportunities and challenges of getting around our community.

We're looking for someone who enjoys connecting people, building relationships and creating opportunities for meaningful community conversations.

What you'll do

  • Reach out to councillors, MPs, council staff, transport professionals and community leaders
  • Connect with community organisations, disability organisations, schools, health services, businesses and faith communities
  • Invite organisations and individuals to participate in Week Without Driving activities
  • Help schedule and coordinate participant involvement
  • Identify potential community partners and supporters
  • Help participants understand the purpose of the week and how they can get involved
  • Contribute ideas for activities and follow-up engagement based on participant feedback

About you

You may have experience in:

  • Community engagement
  • Stakeholder relations
  • Community development
  • Partnership building
  • Event participation and outreach
  • Volunteer coordination

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is comfortable reaching out to people and organisations
  • Can build positive relationships across different sectors of the community
  • Is organised and self-motivated
  • Works well independently
  • Understands the importance of helping people feel connected to their community

People with lived experience of relying on walking, public transport, community transport, mobility scooters or lifts from others are strongly encouraged to apply.

Time commitment

Approximately 4–8 hours per week in the lead-up to Week Without Driving.

The role can be performed remotely, although an understanding of outer suburban communities such as Caboolture and Morayfield would be highly valued.

About Get Around Caboolture

Get Around Caboolture works to improve transport choices and strengthen community participation in the Caboolture region.

Week Without Driving creates opportunities for local leaders and decision-makers to better understand the everyday experiences of people who do not always have access to a car, and to explore practical ways our community can work better for everyone.

Applications are also welcome from individuals, community organisations, social enterprises and not-for-profits.

We have PLI and volunteer insurance.
