The IT Office Support role is accountable to the Committee of Management of the BCSR, is a financial member of the BCSR and regularly consults with the Volunteer Co-ordinator, volunteers and relevant IT contractors and users.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Friendly and approachable with strong interpersonal skills
  • Good working knowledge of computers, Microsoft 365, Safeguard and general software (Windows 11 operating environment).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users
  • Organised and detail-oriented
  • Excellent teamwork , written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to undertake further training if required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring and updating relevant computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners (MS365 – SharePoint, Safeguard, Mail Merge)
  • Provide timely IT support to volunteers, including troubleshooting computer, printer, and software issues either in person or over the phone.
  • Setting up accounts for new volunteers (users)
  • Maintain up to date user guides and IT resource documentation
  • Liaise with external IT providers as needed in conjunction with the Committee executive.
  • Training volunteers - In conjunction with the Volunteer coordinator offer one on one or group / training based on volunteer and office needs
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information

  4. Log in and out of your volunteer shifts.
  5. Participate in training and attend meetings as required 7. Report any issues of concern to the Volunteer Co-ordinator
  6. Undertake other tasks as agreed.
  7. Any offer of a volunteer role with BCSR will be subject to a satisfactory National Police Record Check and Working with Children Check where applicable.
  8. Agreeing and signing of Confidentiality agreement and Code of Conduct during induction

Work Health and Safety

This position is office based work. You may be required to be sitting at a desk for prolonged periods and operating a computer and telephone. You may also be required to engage with other sections of the organisation which may involve some physical tasks including manual handling, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting and lifting.
