This volunteer opportunity will help to support participants during the Friday weekly ladies' bus outings by helping create an enjoyable, inclusive and fun experience.

This volunteering role contributes to participants well-being, independence and sense of community while supporting staff to deliver safe and positive experiences for everyone on the outing. Participants are encouraged to stay engaged and build meaningful connections with their peers as well as having a great deal of fun.

✅ **What you’ll be doing: **

Welcome and engage participants in friendly conversation.

Assist participants to safely board and exit the bus, under staff direction

Encourage social interaction and inclusion among participants during the trip.

Help maintain a positive and safe atmosphere while travelling and also at venues.

Assist with ordering meals at cafes and restaurants and food/beverage delivery if needed

Assist with preparation and service of food and beverages for morning and afternoon teas when held at local parks etc

Follow all safety procedures and volunteer guidelines

Assist with pushing wheelchairs and helping with wheelie walkers if required (wheelchair training provided)

Inform Respite Team of any participant concerns or needs

  • No previous experience in aged care is required, however volunteers should have the ability to build positive relationships with frail aged & elderly people in a respectful and courteous manner. Volunteers should have good communication and listening skills, patience, empathy and be reliable and punctual.

They should be committed to promoting dignity, inclusion and meaningful engagement for elderly people from diverse backgrounds.

Please note that this volunteering position requires a commitment of a full day on a Friday, 8am to 4pm as buses leave early & are on time. They may not return to the centre until 3.30pm after participants are dropped back home.
