About the Role

The General Manager, Growth leads Dodgeball Australia's participation growth — overseeing community programs, membership, affiliates, and equipment access to ensure more Australians discover, play, and stay connected to the sport. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Director.

Key Responsibilities

Growth Strategy

  • Develop and execute DA's annual strategy across programs, membership, affiliates, and equipment access
  • Set participation and membership growth targets aligned to the Strategic & Operational Plan
  • Report monthly to the Director on Growth outcomes, membership data, affiliate health, and risks
  • Partner with the GM of Elite on athlete development pathways connecting participation to high-performance

Programs Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight of DA's community programs — school programs, social competitions, and UniSport
  • Support the Programs Manager with planning, delivery, and post-program review
  • Identify new program opportunities that grow participation in underrepresented communities

Membership & Affiliates

  • Own DA's membership strategy — acquisition, retention, and engagement
  • Manage DA's affiliate network — onboarding, relationship management, compliance, and support
  • Develop and maintain the affiliate framework (standards, obligations, benefits) with the Director
  • Serve as DA's primary point of contact for clubs and affiliated organisations

People Leadership

  • Oversee equipment sales (balls, gear) to clubs and affiliates — accessibility and fair pricing
  • Directly manage the Programs Manager, Membership Coordinator, and future Affiliates Coordinator
  • Monitor volunteer health and workload; flag concerns to the HR Manager

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in community sport, programs management, or membership/affiliate organisations
  • Strategic thinker who can translate growth targets into actionable plans
  • Relationship builder comfortable serving as the primary liaison for clubs and affiliated organisations
  • People leader who can manage a team of volunteers across programs, membership, and affiliates

Key Performance Indicators

  • Timely monthly submissions to the Board
  • Membership growth year-on-year; contribution to 20% increase in participation from underrepresented groups
  • Active affiliate agreements in place with all registered clubs; no lapsed affiliates without follow-up
  • Community programs delivered on schedule and within budget
  • Sound working relationships maintained with all principal stakeholders and affiliates
