Palliative Care Volunteer

Northern Health

Logo for Northern Health

A palliative care volunteer provides comfort, companionship, and practical support to patients and families facing life‑limiting illness. They help create a calm, caring presence through conversation, and emotional support. Volunteers can help patients at meal times with taking lids of containers and making sure items are within the patients reach. Volunteers do not feed patients or carry out any personal care activities. They are there to listen, chat and be present for the patients. Volunteers who help out from 2pm in the afternoons can assist with a refreshment service.
