Volunteer Events and Fundraising Lead (State-Based)

About The Orangutan Project The Orangutan Project is a highly impactful non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of critically endangered orangutans and the protection of their rainforest habitats. We fund essential on-the-ground projects, including rainforest reforestation, wildlife rescue teams, and habitat protection patrols.

Purpose of the Role To champion local fundraising initiatives (like comedy nights, movie nights, or fun runs) and rally the local community energy to get them off the ground. If you are a creative visionary who loves planning memorable events but hates getting bogged down in messy logistics and inventory management, this is the leadership role for you!

Key Tasks (Highly flexible, ad hoc basis):

• Brainstorm and select 2–3 key fundraising concepts for the state calendar each year.
• Serve as the main contact for event venues (e.g. booking the local comedy club or cinema).
• Work alongside digital volunteers to ensure event ticketing links and graphics are created.
• Attend the event to welcome volunteers, kick off the event energy, and celebrate the turnout.

What you DO NOT have to do:

• You do not have to manage merchandise stock, inventory, or shipping.
• You do not have to handle individual volunteer rostering or data management.

Skills and Experience Needed:

• Event planning, project coordination, or hospitality/entertainment experience is a huge plus, but passion and a go-getter attitude are number one!
• Strong communication skills to liaise with local venues and vendors.
• A high-energy, welcoming personality to rally volunteers and attendees on the night.
