Volunteer Engagement Officer (State-Based)

About The Orangutan Project The Orangutan Project is a highly impactful non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of critically endangered orangutans and the protection of their rainforest habitats. We fund essential on-the-ground projects, including rainforest reforestation, wildlife rescue teams, and habitat protection patrols.
Purpose of the Role To keep our local volunteer community connected, informed, and excited through clear, consistent digital communications. If you love building community online, have excellent communication skills, and want a vital leadership role that fits completely around your busy lifestyle, this is the perfect fit!
Key Tasks (Approx. 1–2 hours a month, 100% remote):
- Drop upcoming event dates and market roster links into the state WhatsApp or Google Chat space.
- Send out a brief, templated bi-monthly email blast to the state list letting them know what's coming up.
- Help monitor local social media channels or group chats to answer basic volunteer questions.
What you DO NOT have to do: You never have to attend events in person, manage physical stock, or run stalls.
Skills and Experience Needed:
- Strong digital literacy and comfort using communication platforms like WhatsApp, Google Chat, or basic email marketing tools.
- Warm, positive, and clear written communication skills.
- Reliability to check in online briefly throughout the month to ensure the community is updated.

By keeping the local network informed and inspired, you ensure that our casual ground crew feels supported and ready to step up for events. Your digital updates are the glue that holds our state-based fundraising efforts together.
