Treasurer Required

The Treasurer has a watchdog role over all aspects of financial management, working closely with other members of the Management Committee to safeguard the organisation’s finances. Rail Heritage WA has no paid staff. Rail Heritage WA uses XERO as its accounting software and is digital in all aspects including internet banking and some automated payments. Management Committee meetings are held monthly in Bassendean but can be attended through TEAMS when required. It is important to note that although the Treasurer ensures that the following responsibilities are met, some of the work may be delegated eg banking of cash. Rail Heritage WA usually falls into Tier 1 of Associations Incorporation Act of 2015 reporting and is a registered charity. Duties & Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight & Reporting:
- Monitor the organization's financial position and report regularly to the board/committee.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for members and regulatory bodies.
- Present reviewed Annual Accounts at the Annual General Meeting
- Budgeting & Planning:
- Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the committee.
- Cash & Fund Management:
- Oversee bank accounts, ensure receipts are banked and manage payments.
- Ensure sufficient cash flow and manage investments or borrowing.
- Record Keeping & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate, secure financial records (receipts, payments).
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
Essential Qualities
- Integrity, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping, accounting, and financial reporting.
- Either experienced with use of XERO or willing to learn.
