Lupus Foundation Australasia (LFA) is a patient-led charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by lupus and related autoimmune conditions. We raise awareness, support people living with lupus and their families, and advocate for better research, understanding and care.
We are seeking a passionate and creative Volunteer Podcast Host & Producer to lead and produce our podcast series featuring people living with lupus, carers, healthcare professionals, researchers and community advocates.
About the Role
As our Podcast Host & Producer, you will help create meaningful conversations that educate, inspire and empower the lupus community. You will facilitate interviews, shape episode topics, and oversee the production process from recording through to editing and publishing. This role offers an opportunity to combine storytelling, content creation and health advocacy to help build awareness of lupus across Australia and the wider Australasian community.
Key Responsibilities
- Host and facilitate podcast interviews in an engaging and empathetic manner.
- Prepare interview questions and conduct background research on guests and topics.
- Collaborate with the marketing and content teams to plan episode themes and recording schedules.
- Help identify and approach potential guests, including patients, clinicians, researchers and community advocates.
- Record podcast episodes remotely using online meeting platforms.
- Edit and produce podcast episodes, including basic audio editing, adding intros and outros, and preparing episodes for publication.
- Coordinate the publishing and distribution of episodes across podcast platforms.
- Create episode titles, descriptions and supporting content where appropriate.
- Promote episodes through social media and community channels in collaboration with the marketing team.
- Ensure all content is respectful, inclusive and aligned with LFA's mission and values.
What We're Looking For
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Comfortable speaking with a diverse range of guests and audiences.
- Empathetic, professional and able to discuss sensitive health topics with care.
- Strong organisational skills and reliability.
- Basic audio editing and podcast production skills, or a willingness to learn.
- Experience with podcasting, interviewing, public speaking, radio, journalism, audio editing or content creation is desirable but not essential.
- Familiarity with podcast platforms and editing software is advantageous.
- An interest in health advocacy, patient stories and raising awareness of chronic illnesses is highly regarded.
