
Vision Australia’s Collection Dog Program raises valuable funds to support the breeding, training and care of Seeing Eye Dogs. Collection Dogs are donation containers displayed in local businesses, encouraging customers to donate their loose change.
We are seeking a reliable and organised volunteer to help coordinate and maintain the program by collecting and servicing Collection Dogs, preparing funds for banking, and assisting with some administrative tasks.
The role will primarily support businesses located throughout Melbourne’s eastern suburbs (including Ringwood, Nunawading and Ferntree Gully) and south-eastern suburbs (including Noble Park, Cranbourne and Pakenham).
Specific Duties
Volunteers will:
• Collect, deliver and exchange Collection Dog donation containers at participating businesses.
• Drive a Vision Australia pool vehicle to complete Collection Dog runs.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with participating businesses.
• Empty Collection Dogs and prepare funds for banking by placing donations into designated money bags, attaching identification tags and recording the associated business details.
• Securely place prepared bags into the designated safe for courier collection.
• Clean and maintain Collection Dog containers to ensure they remain presentable.
• From time to time, assist with basic administration tasks, including:
o Preparing introduction letters for new businesses.
o Creating annual certificates of appreciation.
o Preparing annual thank-you letters and fundraising summaries.
o Maintaining records and assisting with coordination of Collection Dog runs.
• Report any issues or opportunities to the program supervisor.
Time Required
• Approximately 6 hours per week.
• Monday to Friday during business hours.
• Flexible scheduling can be arranged in consultation with the supervisor.
• Ongoing commitment preferred.
