What does a typical day look like in a Shop?
Volunteering at the Red Cross Shop in Orange, in a back-of-house capacity. By joining you will be assisting the team with the processing of donations.
This may include:
- Sorting donations into saleable and non-saleable product
- Hanging products
- Tagging products that have been sorted
- Steaming garments
- Boxing up markdown items and excess.
This is a multi-focal volunteer position, to assist in the sorting of high levels of donations, boxing up excess product, and processing stock deemed suitable for sale at this shop. Please note, this role is a behind the scenes role and does not involve working on the shop floor serving customers. Moving boxes and manual handling up to 10kg will be required.
What skills do you need?
- Organisation – Keep donations sorted and ready for sale.
- Attention to Detail – Identify quality items and prepare them accurately.
- Teamwork – Support staff and fellow volunteers.
- The ability to lift, move and organise stock safely.
- Time Management – Work efficiently with high volumes of donations.
- Reliability – Be dependable and ready to help.

- You must be at least 15 years of age (QLD – You must be 16)
- Completing a National Police check (paid for by Red Cross)
- You will also be required to complete an Induction into our organisation and Retail program
