Volunteer Role: Social Media, Fundraising & Marketing Officer
Organisational Background HER Africa is a social impact organisation based registered in Australia and helping in Nigeria, dedicated to empowering women, children, and vulnerable communities through education, health, and economic development initiatives. One of our flagship projects is the Orekelewa Bakery & Restaurant, a social enterprise that provides vocational training and employment opportunities for vulnerable women including widows, single mothers, and survivors of gender based violence while also delivering affordable baked goods and meals to the local community. Our work combines enterprise with impact, aiming to create sustainable solutions to poverty and inequality.
Role Overview We are seeking a passionate and creative Volunteer Social Media, Fundraising & Marketing Officer to help strengthen HER Africa’s digital presence, support fundraising efforts, and communicate our impact to a global audience.
Key Duties
- Develop and manage engaging content across social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok where relevant)
- Assist in creating and scheduling posts, stories, and campaign content
- Support fundraising campaigns, including online appeals, donor communications, and storytelling
- Help promote key projects such as the Orekelewa Bakery & Restaurant and community programs
- Assist in developing simple marketing materials (flyers, posts, email content)
- Monitor engagement and suggest strategies to grow reach and visibility
- Work with the team to tell compelling impact stories through photos, videos, and written content
Skills & Experience Needed
- Strong skills in social media management and digital communication
- Experience or interest in marketing, communications, fundraising, or content creation
- Ability to write clear, engaging, and emotionally compelling content
- Basic design skills (Canva or similar tools) preferred
- Passion for social impact, community development, or women’s empowerment
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently in a remote setting
- Previous volunteer or nonprofit experience is an advantage but not essential
