Advocacy & Campaigns Lead

**About Protect Our Winters (POW) **
POW Australia is a volunteer-driven non-profit turning love for the mountains into climate action. We protect Australia’s alpine environments by educating communities, mobilising supporters, and advocating for the policies that will keep our winters alive. This role is at the sharp end of that work — the person who turns passion into political pressure.
**About the Role **
The Advocacy & Campaigns Lead is responsible for designing and delivering POW’s core campaigns and advocacy strategy, directly leading our Advocate pillar. This role brings together policy work, comms, community organizing and partnerships to create campaigns that drive real-world change.
As part of POW’s new structure, this position is shared as a Role Pair. You will work closely with a co-lead to share the strategy, divide up the workload, cover for each other when life gets busy, and alternate attending monthly leadership meetings. Together, you’ll help lead our campaign development and build relationships that increase POW’s influence.
Commitment & Context: This is a voluntary role with an expected commitment of about 3 to 5 hours per week.
**Key Responsibilities **
You will work with your co-lead to shape and execute our campaigns. Your main areas of focus will be:
- Develop and lead POW’s campaign strategy, in collaboration with strategic direction from the POW Board.
- Coordinate cross-functional campaign delivery alongside other role pairs, including comms, community, and fundraising.
- Lead political and government engagement, and advocacy efforts.
- Oversee the development of clear, credible policy positions and submissions.
- Build relationships with aligned NGOs, advocacy groups, and coalitions.
- Identify key public moments and opportunities for campaign impact.
- Support the mobilization of supporters and local alliances into targeted advocacy actions.
**About You **
We are looking for someone who loves campaigning and understands how to build community momentum. To be successful, you will need:
Required: Experience designing and delivering advocacy or campaign strategies.
Required: A solid understanding of campaigning and movement-building.
Required: Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders, workstreams, and a role co-lead.

**Performance Goals **
Your work will help drive community action and shift public conversations. Your goals include:
- Successful delivery of high-impact national or targeted campaigns.
- Smooth, well-coordinated work across all core POW role pairs during campaigns.
- Increased advocacy engagement and supporter actions.
- Development of clear, credible policy positions for the organization.
- Strengthened relationships with key advocacy partners.
