Fundraising & Grants Lead

**About Protect Our Winters (POW) **
POW Australia is a volunteer-driven non-profit turning love for the mountains into climate action. We protect Australia’s alpine environments by educating communities, mobilising supporters, and advocating for the policies that will keep our winters alive. This role is what makes that work sustainable — securing the funding that turns ambition into impact.
**About the Role **
The Fundraising & Grants Lead is responsible for securing the financial resources needed to sustain and grow POW’s work. This role focuses on building relationship networks with institutional funders, researching grants, writing proposals, and establishing strategic corporate sponsorships that expand POW’s reach and campaign funding.
This position is shared as a Role Pair. You will work closely with a co-lead to manage the fundraising pipeline, split up grant applications, cover for each other during busy professional or life periods, and alternate attending monthly leadership meetings. Together, you will build a stable funding model that enables high-impact climate action. This work will be highly collaborative with the POW Board.
Commitment & Context: This is a voluntary role with an expected commitment of about 3 to 5 hours per week.
**Key Responsibilities **
You will manage our fundraising pipeline and help connect our campaigns with funding partners. Your main responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement a fundraising strategy across corporate giving, individual donors, and grants.
- Identify, research, and apply for relevant major grants, trusts, and sponsorship opportunities.
- Build and manage relationships with institutional funders and corporate sustainability contacts.
- Lead the writing, design, and presentation of high-quality funding proposals and grant applications.
- Manage corporate partnerships and sponsorships.
- Support campaign-specific fundraising initiatives in coordination with the active campaign and comms leads.
**About You **
We are looking for an organized relationship-builder with excellent writing skills. To succeed in this role, you will need:
Required: Experience in fundraising, grant writing, corporate partnerships, or business development.
Required: Exceptional written communication skills with a track record of crafting successful proposals or grants.
Required: Strong relationship-building skills and confidence engaging external stakeholders.
Required: Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive project management habits.
Required: A collaborative approach built for working in a shared role pair structure.
Highly Desirable: Knowledge of the Australian philanthropic landscape and environmental funding cycles.
Highly Desirable: Experience managing corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs or brand sponsorships.
**Performance Goals **
Your work will help build the financial sustainability needed for POW to scale its campaigns. Your goals include:
- Measurable growth in total organizational funding, grants, and revenue streams.
- Consistent application and success rates for targeted grant opportunities.
- Strong, collaborative, and long-lasting donor and partner relationships.
- Strategic growth in corporate sponsorships that expand our public visibility.
- A predictable, de-risked, and sustainable funding pipeline built for the long term.
