Tutors/Mentors for children/young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds
Advertised by Volunteering WA
Volunteers are needed to offer care and support to children of refugee/migrant backgrounds at their schools. Children of refugee/migrant backgrounds often feel isolated and anxious and subsequently withdraw from classroom participation. A caring and supportive volunteer, who is willing to build a trusting relationship, can make the world of difference by assisting a child, or small group of children, to tackle classroom tasks and therefore build confidence and self-esteem. Volunteers are assigned to a primary or secondary school, depending on their preference, and are expected to attend for three hours per week, during school hours, for the school year. Applications are now open for our next intake.
