Community SOS in Woy Woy is launching a dedicated Grandparents Support Group - a welcoming space for grandparents to connect, share experiences and support one another in their unique caregiving journeys.
We are looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer to facilitate and coordinate this group for a few hours each week (ideally Friday mornings for 1-2 hours).
In this role, you will help create a relaxed, inclusive environment where grandparents can openly discuss the joys and challenges of raising grandchildren, build friendships and feel part of the supportive community.
Key responsibilities:
- Facilitate weekly group sessions in a welcoming and respectful manner
- Coordinate and plan simple activities or discussion topics
- Arrange occasional guest speakers or community information sessions
- Help foster a safe, supportive and inclusive space for sharing experiences
- Liaise with Community SOS staff as needed
This group is designed for grandparents only (no children attending), offering a space to focus on their own wellbeing, connection and shared experiences. Topics may include the rewards and challenges of caregiving, navigating changing family dynamics and maintaining personal wellbeing.
