
We're looking for a motivated and organised Volunteer Administration Assistant to support our team with a range of administrative tasks. This is a great opportunity to contribute your skills to a meaningful cause while gaining valuable experience in a supportive and friendly environment.
The Volunteer Administration Assistant will support the Coordinator with administrative duties directly related to the Newcastle Community Hub. Our work is centred on serving, assisting, empowering, advocating for, and walking alongside people in need. We strive to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives by offering hope and practical support.
Key tasks & responsibilities
Volunteer tasks may include, but are not limited to:
Administration & Coordination
- Greeting clients and visitors in a warm, respectful manner
- Assisting with appointment bookings and calendar management
- Maintaining accurate records, filing and data entry
- Sorting, organising and preparing forms, documents and resource packs
Operational Support
- Assisting with the organisation of events, groups, or community activities
- Managing stock levels of brochures, forms, and office supplies
- Helping maintain the reception or common areas in good order
- Supporting staff in general daily tasks as required
What You'll Need
Essential skills
- Warm, respectful and non judgemental communication style
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Basic computer skills (email, typing, simple data entry)
- Reliability, punctuality and willingness to learn
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
- Sensitivity to people from diverse backgrounds, including those experiencing trauma, homelessness or disadvantage
Desirable skills
- Previous administration or customer service experience
- Knowledge of community services or interest in social support work
- Experience using Microsoft Office or similar software
- Ability to stay calm and grounded during busy or challenging times
