Volunteer Packing Assistant – Whitehorse Meals on Wheels (Nunawading)
Make a hands on difference in your community. Help pick and pack fresh and frozen meals at the Nunawading Community Hub so local older Australians receive nutritious food and a friendly check in at home.
You’ll work on site with our team to: • Pick and pack daily orders for both frozen and chilled meals, label and organise eskies for each delivery run.
• Follow simple food safety steps (e.g., keeping lids on insulated eskies, separating frozen/chilled items, packing to run sheets). Training provided.
• Check accuracy (names, quantities, dietary needs) so every client gets the right meal first time.
• Primary shift (Frozen packing): Monday to Friday from 8:00am 12:00pm (4 hours).
• Fresh meal packing: aligned to scheduled delivery days (up to 3 days/week). We’ll match times to your availability.
You’ll bring
• Reliability and attention to detail in a fast moving, team setting.
• Comfort with light to moderate manual handling (moving labelled eskies and boxes). Training provided.
• A friendly, community minded approach - we’re here to support independence and wellbeing.
We’ll provide
• On site training in food safety and packing processes.
• A welcoming team culture and clear run sheets so you always know what to do next.
• The satisfaction of helping deliver nutritious fresh & frozen meals to neighbours across Whitehorse.
