ROLE PURPOSE

As an IT Analyst & Training Support volunteer, your focus will be on the development of technical documentation, requirement gathering, system testing, and staff training. You will act as a vital bridge between the technical team and non-technical staff, ensuring that our systems are well-documented, secure, and easily adopted by the broader organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

DOCUMENTATION & TRAINING

  • Develop comprehensive technical guides, user documentation, and operational procedures, initially utilising the Google Workspace office suite.
  • Lead and deliver training sessions on digital tools to ensure non-technical staff and volunteers feel confident using our systems.

SYSTEMS ANALYSIS & QUALITY ASSURANCE

  • Actively participate in meetings to gather business needs from various departments and translate them into actionable technical requirements for the development team.
  • Conduct software and system testing (QA) to ensure new developments and website features function correctly before rollout.
  • Manage role-based security and permissions across internal systems.
  • Conduct system audits and generate tracking reports to monitor IT performance and security.
  • Maintain a foundational understanding of web development to effectively assist and test web-related projects.

OPERATIONAL IT & COLLABORATION

  • Manage Google Workspace administration, including account setups and general troubleshooting.
  • Attend cross-departmental meetings (outside of standard IT meetings) to proactively identify pain points, seek improvements, and solve problems for other areas across the organisation.
  • Provide general IT support and respond to day-to-day requests from the team.
  • Utilize Notion for tracking, managing, and updating IT tasks and projects.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to people with varying levels of technical confidence.
  • Experience in creating documentation, auditing systems, and managing role-based security.
  • Willingness to conduct software/system testing.
  • Comfortable using Notion for task and project management.
  • Willingness and availability to attend weekly IT team meetings on Sunday mornings.

DESIRABLE

  • Basic understanding of web development principles.
  • Experience with Google Workspace administration (accounts and permissions).
  • Previous experience volunteering or working within a not-for-profit or community organisation.
