
Lifestyle Markets Australia (LMA) is a registered not-for-profit organisation bringing communities together through multicultural markets, festivals, and events across Victoria.
Proceeds from LMA events support Kinds of Happiness (KOH), a registered charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth in regional and rural Australia through mentoring, farming programs, and skills development.
Our People & Culture (P&C) team is growing, and we are looking for a volunteer HR Generalist to help us build strong foundations for our volunteer workforce.
About the Role
As a Volunteer HR Generalist, you will support the P&C team with a broad range of human resources activities, helping LMA attract, onboard, and support the volunteers who make our markets and festivals possible. This is a hands-on, varied role suited to someone who enjoys working across the full HR function.
Key Responsibilities
- Support volunteer recruitment, including drafting position descriptions and advertisements
- Commit to attend a weekly team meeting
- Assist with screening, interviewing, and onboarding new volunteers
- Help maintain HR documentation, trackers, and compliance records
- Contribute to the ongoing development of P&C policies, guides, and processes
- Support volunteer engagement and retention initiatives
Experience & Skills Required
Essential
- Experience in an HR generalist, coordinator, or advisory role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound understanding of recruitment and onboarding processes
- Ability to work independently and manage own time in a remote environment
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- Genuine interest in supporting a mission-driven, volunteer-based organisation
Desirable
- Experience working in a not-for-profit or volunteer-based organisation
- Formal HR qualification (e.g. Certificate IV, Diploma, or degree in HR or a related field)
- Familiarity with volunteer management or engagement practices
- Experience with HR systems, trackers, or documentation (e.g. Google Workspace, SEEK)
- Experience supporting compliance processes (e.g. Working with Children Checks, police checks)
