About the opportunity

Primary Purpose of the Position

The purpose of this role is to mentor and support a youth-led disaster recovery and resilience initiative in Agnes Water to develop a practical business strategy, governance framework, and operational roadmap for the Emergency Preparedness Hamper Initiative. Working alongside young leaders, Discovery Coast Christian College, Chappy House Co Ltd and local community stakeholders, the mentor will help strengthen a locally owned model that improves food security, emergency readiness and community resilience in an isolated regional setting vulnerable to flooding, severe storms and supply chain disruption.

The role will support the initiative to bring together affordable emergency preparedness hampers, The Community Storehouse, Foodbank Queensland access and produce from the Chappy House Village Garden into a sustainable circular social enterprise model. It will help young people build the confidence, systems and partnerships needed to safely operate the initiative, reach vulnerable residents through trusted community networks, and create a model that may be adapted by other isolated communities over time.

Selection Criteria:

• Experience in business strategy, governance, or social enterprise development
• Ability to mentor young people and support community-led leadership development
• Experience working across community, education, or not-for-profit settings
• Strong facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills in regional or complex stakeholder environments

Role information:

• Start ASAP
• Approximately 6 months
• Hybrid - Remote strategy sessions paired with an immersive on-site visit to Agnes Water and surrounding areas.

• 5 years professional experience in the relevant field
• Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident residing in Australia.
• Willingness to complete a National Police Check
• Willingness to complete a Working with Children Check
