Street Side Medics is a not-for-profit, GP-led mobile medical service for people experiencing homelessness. Our vision is to ensure that all vulnerable individuals requiring healthcare can access it effortlessly, with dignity and respect.

At Street Side Medics make long term commitments to the communities in which we work. By teaming up with local community partners, and delivering our clinics from the same place, at the same time, on the same day, each week, we are able to build lasting relationships and ensure continuity of care.

The team on the ground each week are all volunteers and include GPs, other medical specialists, registered and enrolled nurses, allied health professionals and other non-medical volunteers that may come from a variety of professional backgrounds. The clinics operate from vans with full medical fit outs, and work in conjunction with other homeless services 6 days a week at 16 locations across NSW, VIC and ACT.

We are recruiting for a Podiatrist at our Hornsby Clinic. Your commitment would be to volunteer once a month on a Thursday evening from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. (Approx 2 hours) volunteers are asked to make a long term commitment to this role.

The key objective of the Podiatrist role is to work alongside our existing team consisting of GPs, other medical specialists, registered and enrolled nurses, allied health professionals and other non-medical volunteers to support clients at our Hornsby Clinic who require specialist Podiatry care.

People experiencing homelessness and vulnerable individuals face significantly higher risks of foot ailments like infections, tinea, and ulcerations. They may require treatment for skin and nail conditions, advice and modification for footwear and therapeutic soft tissue interventions, advice on biomechanics and structural problems, bone and joint pathology, gait analysis and management of systemic illnesses with foot manifestations.
