Retail Assistant – Volunteer Role

Key duties
As a Retail Assistant, you’ll help create a welcoming experience for visitors and support the smooth operation of the gallery shop. Duties may include:
• Greeting visitors and providing friendly customer service
• Processing sales of artwork, cards, and gift items
• Answering basic questions about exhibitions and artists
• Keeping the retail area tidy, stocked, and inviting
• Assisting with simple gallery tasks during quiet periods

Each shift is 3 hours, and you can choose the days and times that suit you.

Skills and experience
No formal qualifications are required. This role suits someone who enjoys interacting with people, is reliable, and feels comfortable handling simple point‑of‑sale tasks. We’ll teach you everything you need to know, confidence and a warm manner are more important than experience.

The Gawler Community Gallery is a volunteer‑run, not‑for‑profit organisation dedicated to supporting local artists and providing a welcoming space for the community to enjoy art. Volunteers are the backbone of the gallery, helping us stay open and connected to the community.
