This role is all about showing up for your community in a practical, meaningful way. As a Soup Kitchen Hand Volunteer, you help make sure good food gets into the hands of people who need it. It’s hands‑on, it’s social, and it genuinely makes a difference. Every pot you wash, every ingredient you prep, every calm moment you bring to a busy kitchen helps someone feel supported and seen.
What You’ll Be Doing
Washing pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment to keep service moving Helping with simple food preparation like chopping, portioning and assembling items Keeping kitchen benches and work areas clean, safe and organised Supporting the kitchen team during meal service Following straightforward food safety and hygiene practices Working alongside a friendly team of staff and volunteers
Who This Suits
You bring some previous kitchen experience — commercial, community, or home‑style — as this role will certainly lead into cooking at some point. Most importantly, you bring respect, compassion and a non‑judgmental attitude to everyone who walks through our doors.
