What you can expect as a volunteer

Volunteer roles are diverse; you may be involved in supporting various of elements of service delivery and promotion. You will have an opportunity to contribute your unique insights from your personal experiences of supporting others and give back to the caring community in a range of ways.

We are seeking volunteers who are motivated to develop knowledge of the centre, and support staff to engage the community and other services, building relationships and networks by promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect in a friendly and positive way.

You will be provided support to shape your role in a way that reflects your strengths and aspirations for volunteering, with opportunities to directly support individual carers or groups.

Regular support and supervision will be provided by the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure you are supported and given access to training and professional development opportunities.

What we are looking for in a Volunteer:

Wellways are looking for volunteers who are motivated to contribute to the advocacy and community support of carers engaged in our program.

We are looking for people with:

  • A passion for mental health advocacy and interest in supporting carers
  • Respect for the confidentiality
  • Compassion, empathy and a non-judgemental approach
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • An ability to collaborate effectively with individuals, including other professionals.
  • Living or lived experience of caring for someone with neurodivergence, and/or mental health or substance use challenges.

Requirements:

  • A National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check 
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • 100 points of ID
