Volunteers with the Zero to Four Family Support Service are compassionate, community‑minded people who make a meaningful difference in the lives of families with young children. They offer emotional support, a friendly listening ear, and practical help with daily routines, parenting skills, and positive role‑modelling. Support is provided in the family home, and volunteers can also help parents connect with local services and community spaces such as parks, libraries, playgroups, and community centres. Our volunteers receive dedicated training before being matched with a family experiencing challenges in the early years of parenting. Their work is grounded in empathy, lived experience, and a genuine desire to help. A core part of the role is empowering parents—helping them recognise their strengths and build confidence in their ability to meet their child’s relational and developmental needs.
