Volunteer – Operations Assistant Mahboba's Promise | Marsfield, Sydney NSW | Volunteer (Flexible Hours)

About Us

For over 25 years, Mahboba's Promise has been a lifeline for vulnerable women, children, widows, and orphans in Afghanistan, as well as newly arrived refugees settling in Sydney. We are a small, deeply committed team doing big, life-changing work and we need passionate, driven people to help us grow.

About the Role

Are you a student with a passion for NGOs, or an experienced operations professional looking to dedicate your skills to something that truly matters? Do you want your experience to go towards building something that can positively impact more lives?

We are looking for a Volunteer Operations Assistant to work hand-in-hand with our Operations Manager, providing direct, practical support as they build and scale our operational foundations. You won't be working alone, this is a true support role, where your contribution helps our Operations Manager move faster, work smarter, and deliver greater impact for the communities we serve.

Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will:

• Assist in liaising with our CRM provider and support the Operations Manager through the CRM implementation process. • Assist in the implementation of a program management platform (such as Monday.com) supporting the setup of workflows, onboarding of team members, and day-to-day adoption across the organisation.

• Provide hands-on support across a range of operational activities, helping keep projects on track and priorities moving forward.

• Help identify and overcome obstacles, working alongside the Operations Manager to troubleshoot challenges and maintain momentum.

• Bring flexibility and a willingness to pitch in wherever support is needed — in a small, high-impact team, adaptability makes all the difference.

What You'll Bring

• A proactive, can-do attitude and genuine passion for the humanitarian sector.

• Strong organisational skills and comfort working with digital tools — experience with Monday.com, CRM platforms, or similar tools is a bonus.

• The ability to take initiative while knowing when to seek direction.

• Great communication skills and a collaborative, team-first spirit.

Why Volunteer With Us?

You will gain real, hands-on operational experience working directly alongside senior leadership in a purpose-driven NFP environment, contributing to an organisation that has been changing lives for over 25 years. Whether you are a student building practical skills or a seasoned professional wanting to give back — this role offers something genuinely meaningful.
