Homework Club Volunteer Tutors

Homies is a special Homework Club program run by the Emerald Hill Library. It offers one-on-one tutoring and mentoring for Primary School aged children, some from a disadvantaged background.
We are seeking applications for volunteers to join our Homies Homework Club program. We depend on volunteers who are willing to give their time to this important and rewarding work. Volunteers will need to:

• Be confident in helping Primary School aged children with their homework, especially reading, writing and maths.
• Work mostly with the same student each week, to develop an effective tutoring and mentoring relationship.
• Be available Thursday evenings from 6pm - 7:30pm during school term time
• Have current Police and Working With Children Checks ( free for volunteers and the Library will assist with obtaining these)
• Willing to be trained in and adhere to legislated Child Safety obligations and responsibilities for volunteers
• Formal qualifications and tutoring experience are beneficial but are not essential
• Volunteer insurance cover is provided
