About Ageing with Grace
At Ageing with Grace, we believe everyone deserves to feel connected, valued and included. Our Grace Friendship Circles bring older people together in welcoming community spaces where friendships can grow through conversation, shared experiences and regular social connection.

About the Role
As a Grace Friendship Circles Volunteer, you’ll help create a friendly and welcoming space where older people can meet others, share stories and enjoy meaningful social connection. This role is about bringing people together, encouraging conversations and helping everyone feel included.

What You’ll Do
You’ll help by:

  • Welcoming participants and helping everyone feel comfortable.
  • Encouraging conversations and helping people connect with each other.
  • Supporting group activities such as games, craft, music, trivia, guest speakers and shared experiences.
  • Assisting with setting up, packing down and refreshments where needed.
  • Creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment.
  • Letting the Program Coordinator know if there are any concerns or if you are unable to attend.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for people who are friendly, patient and enjoy spending time with others. You don’t need previous experience — what matters most is that you are a good listener, approachable and willing to help create positive connections.

A great Friendship Circles Volunteer is someone who:

  • Enjoys meeting new people.
  • Values inclusion and community.
  • Is reliable and happy to be part of a team.
  • Likes helping others feel welcome and involved.

Why Volunteer With Us?
By joining Ageing with Grace, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Make a real difference in the lives of older people.
  • Help reduce loneliness and create stronger community connections.
  • Meet new people and be part of a supportive team.
  • Receive training, guidance and ongoing support.

The Impact You’ll Make
Your time can help someone feel seen, included and connected. A friendly conversation, a shared activity or simply being present can make a meaningful difference in helping older people build friendships and feel a stronger sense of belonging.

Getting Started
To get involved, volunteers will complete Ageing with Grace volunteer training before starting and provide the required checks, including a National Criminal History Record Check if required. We’ll support you throughout your volunteering journey and work with you to find a schedule that suits both you and the Friendship Circles program.
