Aged Care Volunteers
As an Aged Care Volunteer Visitor, you will spend time with an older person who may be feeling lonely or socially isolated. Your visits can make a real difference — whether it’s having a chat, sharing a hobby, or just being there for friendly connection.
This is a flexible and rewarding role where consistency, kindness, and companionship matter most. Each older person on the scheme will receive twenty visits per year, meaning that volunteers would preferably commit to a one-hour visit per fortnight (approximately).
No formal qualifications are required for this volunteer position. However, volunteers are expected to demonstrate a compassionate, patient, friendly and reliable approach, along with well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills. An ability to commit to regular visits over an agreed period is essential.
Essential Requirements:
- Volunteers must demonstrate respect for diversity and a commitment to inclusive practice
- For health and safety reasons, volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID and to maintain an annual influenza vaccination
Desirable but not essential assets:
-
Experience working or volunteering with older people
-
An understanding of social isolation and its impacts
-
Cultural knowledge or language skills that support engagement with diverse communities
