Reception (Concierge) Volunteer - Women's Crisis Centre

St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) has a Women’s Crisis Centre providing emergency accommodation facility to women, children and their pets. The centre provides a safe place of refuge for women leaving domestic violence or experiencing homelessness and is a preferred crisis accommodation provider for the SA Government. Guests are provided with meals, onsite laundry and 24-hour onsite support staff. It is a vibrant and busy site with many people coming and going.
In this role, you will greet guests and visitors, contribute to onsite security, and provide general information and assistance to support the day-to-day operation of the Centre. Through your warmth, empathy and professionalism, you will help ensure every guest feels welcomed, respected and valued.
Key volunteer tasks and responsibilities include:
- Welcome and connect with guests in a warm and respectful manner as they come and go from the facility.
- Obtain and manage guests’ room keys while they are away from the site.
- Grant site entry to guests and approved visitors by operating the security gate and intercom system.
- Ensure visiting service providers, contractors and authorities complete sign-in and out procedure.
- Record messages and information from guests and pass these to site staff as required.
- Respond to general guest enquiries and distribute basic room supplies as requested.
- Maintain professional boundaries and apply rule consistency with all guests.
- Maintain guest confidentiality at all times.
- Ensure the location of WVCC, the nature of business at the facility and the identity of current and former guests remain protected from the general public.
- Refer enquiries, concerns, incidents or matters beyond role scope to Centre staff as required.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all guests.
