Everyday Living Practical Assistance Volunteer - Expression of Interest

Make a genuine difference in someone's daily life by providing practical support in their home. MND Queensland is seeking caring and reliable volunteers to provide practical assistance to people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). By helping with everyday tasks, you'll support clients to maintain their independence, help them keep on top of domestic tasks and provide social connection.
About MND Queensland
MND Queensland is a leading organisation wholly focused on supporting people living with Motor Neurone Disease and their families, friends, and carers. We offer understanding and practical assistance through the delivery of information, education, and specialist support services that improve quality of life and wellbeing.
You will:
- Assist with light household tasks such as tidying, laundry, or basic cleaning
- Help with mowing or garden maintenance
- Offer friendly conversation and social connection while providing practical support
You won't:
- Provide personal care (e.g. showering, dressing, toileting)
- Perform manual handling or lifting tasks
- Administer medications
- Undertake clinical or healthcare-related duties
- Provide support beyond the agreed volunteer role boundaries
We're looking for people who are:
- Friendly, compassionate, and dependable
- Comfortable supporting people in their home environment
- Able to follow directions and respectful of privacy, dignity, and individual choice
- Good communicators and active listeners
- Able to commit to regular volunteering for 3+ months
- Have or willing to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card)

We support people living with MND throughout Queensland.

This is an Expression of Interest (EOI) only and does not guarantee an immediate volunteer placement. Our Everyday Living Practical Assistance program operates on a request basis, with volunteers matched to people living with Motor Neurone Disease as needs arise across Queensland. After receiving your EOI, we will keep your details on file and contact you when a suitable opportunity becomes available in your area. Matching is based on factors such as location, availability, interests, skills, as well as the preferences and needs of clients. By sharing your time and practical skills, you can help Queenslanders living with Motor Neurone Disease maintain their independence and quality of life.
Please note
Our volunteer personal accident insurance requires volunteers for this position to be at least 18 years old. Insurance coverage is provided up to age 75. Volunteers aged over 75 may still participate but should be aware that insurance coverage is limited.
