Elorac Place is a community centre that provides a wide range of programs, activities and services to support youth, families, children and individuals.
In this volunteer role, you will provide support to community members by helping them identify ways to troubleshoot and repair household items, including sewing and mending clothing. You will share practical skills and knowledge while working alongside staff to build participants' confidence, develop their repair abilities, and encourage sustainable repair practices within the community.
The Repair Café operates as a collaborative learning space where volunteers empower community members to find pathways to fix their own belongings. To ensure safety and maintain professional boundaries, volunteers will decline repairs that are deemed overly complex or that present a safety risk.
Volunteer hours are flexible and will be agreed upon prior to commencement.
All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof that they have received one primary COVID-19 vaccinations before being registered.
Volunteers must also have a current Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Workers Screening Clearance check before commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
