Graphic Design – Children’s Car Museum Passport
Advertised by Volunteering WA
We are seeking a volunteer graphic designer to create a print ready “passport” for children and young people visiting the Motor Museum of Western Australia. The passport will look and function like a real passport, with pages for themed destination stamps that children collect as they find specific vehicles around the museum. This new resource will support a more engaging, self‑guided trail for families and help young visitors connect with Western Australia’s motoring heritage in a fun and memorable way.
Key duties
- Design a child‑friendly, A6 or similar size passport.
- Incorporate page layouts that allow space for multiple rubber stamps, with clear prompts so children can match each stamp to a vehicle or display in the museum.
- Develop a cohesive visual style (cover, inner pages, icons, headings, and simple instructions) that echoes the look and feel of a real passport while remaining playful and accessible for primary school–aged children.
- Prepare print‑ready files (including bleed, margins, and printer specifications) by an agreed deadline so the passports are ready for use in the December school holidays.
- Liaise with the Marketing Coordinator to refine the concept, page flow, and any simple content elements such as titles, short activity prompts, or numbering systems to help wayfinding around the museum.
Skills and experience
-
Experience in graphic design, with the ability to produce engaging layouts for print.
-
Confidence using professional design software (for example, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or equivalent tools) and exporting print‑ready files.
-
An eye for detail, particularly around typography, spacing, and readability for children and families.
-
Ability to interpret a brief and incorporate feedback to achieve a polished final product.
-
An interest in museums, heritage, tourism, or family experiences is highly regarded but not essential.
About the organisation and impact
