Be the BOOST every runner needs at the 2026 TCS Sydney Marathon by joining the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) volunteer team at our official marathon water station.

Positioned at an important point along the course, as a Water Station Volunteer, you'll play a vital role in helping thousands of runners stay hydrated, motivated and safely on their way to the finish line. Your enthusiasm and encouragement can make all the difference when participants need it most.

This is more than handing out cups of water—it's about creating an unforgettable race day experience while supporting one of Australia's most trusted charities.

Volunteers receive:

  • An event cap
  • Exclusive volunteer t-shirt
  • Exclusive volunteer jacket (Race Day only)
  • Limited edition volunteer pin
  • Meet like-minded people and make new friends
  • Learn new skills in a supportive environment
  • Receive a Certificate of Appreciation for volunteering
  • Public transport included

On the day, you may assist with:

  • Setting up the RFDS water station before runners arrive.
  • Filling thousands of water cups and arranging them on tables for quick access.
  • Handing water to runners safely and efficiently as they pass through the course.
  • Cheering on participants and creating an energetic, supportive atmosphere.
  • Keeping the water station stocked, clean and organised throughout the event.
  • Collecting and disposing of used cups and rubbish to help maintain a safe environment.
  • Assisting the Water Station Team Leaders with general tasks as required.
  • Packing down the water station once the final participants have passed.
  • Working closely with fellow RFDS volunteers to ensure the station operates smoothly from start to finish.
