Join the ORRCA Rescue Team as a volunteer Systems Analysist / IT Project Manager!
ORRCA is looking for a tech-savvy, mission-driven volunteer to support one of our most important projects: finding and scoping a new Incident Management System that will transform how we coordinate marine mammal rescues across Australia.

Your mission
To support the scoping, evaluation, and business case for a new Incident Management System. One that connects our rescue operations, improves data quality, and supports ORRCA’s growth. This is a time-limited project role with a clear end point and real, lasting impact.
What you’ll be responsible for
You'll be bringing structure and expertise to one of ORRCA's most important decisions helping us find the right system to support our rescue teams for years to come.
This includes:
- Researching how comparable organisations manage rescue operations and what systems they use
- Engaging with vendors and running demonstrations to evaluate options
- Evaluating platform options against ORRCA's operational requirements
- Supporting the Rescue Leader to produce a clear recommendation with a supporting business case
Who we’re looking for
You might be:
- Experienced in evaluating or implementing software e.g. CRM, case management, field operations or similar
- Naturally organised and detail‑oriented
- Able to translate operational needs into technology requirements
- A structured thinker who can compare options and make a clear recommendation
- Interest in marine mammal rescue and conservation (desirable)

Right now, ORRCA coordinates rescues across six disconnected tools. The right system will mean faster dispatch, better incident records, and cleaner data for reporting. This role won't be on the beach, but the system you help scope will support every rescue that is. Every accurate dataset and well‑timed report helps ORRCA review rescues, improve response, and strengthen conservation outcomes
