Volunteer Board Member
Avenue Neighbourhood House is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation committed to creating inclusive opportunities for learning, connection and participation. We deliver a diverse range of services including:
- An Early Learning Centre (ELC)
- A Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
- Adult learning and community education programs
- Youth and community development initiatives
- Community support services
We are seeking community-minded and values-driven individuals to join our Board of Directors and help guide the strategic direction, sustainability and impact of our organisation.
As a director, you will contribute your expertise and lived experience to strengthen governance, support organisational growth and ensure Avenue Neighbourhood House continues to respond to the evolving needs of our community.
About the Role
The Board is responsible for the governance, strategic oversight and long-term sustainability of Avenue Neighbourhood House. Working collaboratively with fellow Directors and the CEO, Board members provide leadership while ensuring accountability, compliance and community impact.
We welcome applications from people with experience across a broad range of professional, community and leadership backgrounds.

- Alignment with the values and purpose of the neighbourhood house sector.
- Strong judgement, integrity and ethical decision-making.
- The ability to think strategically and contribute constructively to Board discussions.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to work as part of a governance team.
- An understanding of the distinction between governance and operational management.
Previous board experience is welcome but not essential. We encourage applications from emerging leaders, professionals and community members who can bring valuable expertise, diverse perspectives or lived experience.
