Youth Hub Volunteers for Bass Coast Youth Services
The Position
Bass Coast Youth Services, operated by Anglicare Victoria in partnership with Bass Coast Shire Council, provides safe and inclusive connections and opportunities for young people aged 12–25 in the Bass Coast region.
A key component of the service is operating the YES Youth Hub afternoon drop-in sessions where young people can connect with others, access support and take part in activities that build confidence, wellbeing and community connection. We are seeking passionate volunteers to support program delivery, build positive relationships, and engage with young people through a range of activities and programs that promote wellbeing, connection, and personal growth.
Programs delivered through the hub are driven by the needs of young people across the region, in partnership with local community organisations. We support youth-led arts, music and community events, helping young people develop skills, confidence and leadership opportunities. Some outreach may be required when programs are delivered on location throughout the Bass Coast region.
The service also works with young people to co-design activities and programs, including a Youth Advisory Committee, and offers free venue hire for youth and community organisations.
Hours and days: The Youth Hub Operates from 2.30 – 5.30 Monday to Thursday
Additional Information
- This is a volunteer position, and no wage or salary is available.
- The occupant of this position recognises the importance of advising the program supervisor of any proposed absences as early as possible prior to a session commencing to allow adequate alternative arrangements to be made.
- All volunteers participate in training and supervision.
- All volunteers of Anglicare Victoria are subject to a six-month probationary period.
- Occupants of this position are subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check prior to commencement and will be required to hold a current Working with Children Check.
To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need
Essential
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Passion for working with young people.
- All Anglicare Victoria volunteers are subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check, and require a current Volunteer Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
- Provide a minimum of two referees.
Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience
- Working towards community services, youth work, allied health therapy or social work qualification and/or**** experience working in a community organisation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of social welfare issues.
- Well-developed communication and organisational skills.
- Skills in Microsoft Office Programs.
- First Aid Training
- Some knowledge of OH&S
